LIFE HOUSE SPEC HOME
This 2700 square foot home designed for Life Magazine was originally intended for the family, which enjoys bringing the outdoors inside. The initial intent was to create a home that could expand with the family’s different stages of life. The living room, kitchen, dining area, master bedroom, study and two children’s room make up the primary living areas of the home. A Great Room acts as the gathering space for the family with the bedrooms located on either side. The great room is combined with the kitchen and acts as the hearth of the home. It is flooded with natural daylight from the clearstory windows. These windows, which line the front and the back of the home, are an integral part of the design of the home.
The house was designed in 1997 by John Rattenbury, a long time Director of Taliesin Architects. Gustad worked with John to complete the drawings.
