The house is designed to be unpretentious from the street and responds to the particular needs of the family. The great room with the living, dining, kitchen and family space is the center of daily life. Spaces flow from one room to the other. Sliding doors are placed between the family and living, dining, kitchen so that it can be acoustically separated when needed. All the built-in cabinets are designed to blend with the architecture.

The house sits on the site with a quality of simplicity achieved by vertical stone masses and horizontal roof lines. Although the house does not formally apply to the Scottsdale Green Building program it fulfils all its requirements and is designed to be environmentally friendly in all respects.
